To the Humps and Bumps

Dear Humps and Bumps,

So, I’ve noticed that on some streets there are speed bumps, and some streets there are speed humps.

Intriguing.

What is the difference between you? My theory has something to do with the height of the bump/hump. It has been my experience that a hump is larger and more annoying than a bump. Such is the case with other connotations of both those words. I’ve had many a debate with close friends about this subject. My roommate insists that humps and bumps are actually the same thing, and that it is up to the city to decide on naming.

I think this is bullsh*t.

You just can’t be the same thing. I refuse to accept this. Why would you be called something different if you were the same thing? It just doesn’t make sense.
