To the Girl Scout Cookies Name Change
Dear Girl Scout Cookies Name Change,
Would a Samoa by any other name taste as caramel and delicious? Hell no!
Name Change, I despise you. Look, Girl Scouts are a feisty bunch, and courage is one of the founding virtues of their organization, so don’t expect them to take this sitting down. Any day now, they’ll join me in the streets to stand their ground against this injustice. I don’t care what sinister central reorganization is at work, but I refuse to eat these cookies by any other name.
Your internal cookie wars mean nothing to me, but look: a Samoa is not the same as a Caramel deLite. It just isn’t. It’s not as goofy, and therefore will not taste as good. The vaguely racist associations were part of the fun of the cookies - and now you won’t even let me have that.
Peanut Butter Patties instead of Tagalongs? Are you kidding me? We already have Peppermint Patties. You can’t just change the adjective and have an entirely different cookie name. What next? Chocolate Chip Patties? Oatmeal Patties? No, we have to draw a line in the sand somewhere, so here it is.
And finally, Do-si-dos? Now, this was a cute, humble, inoffensive name, and now you want me to call it a Peanut Butter Sandwich? You can’t be serious! Do you know what “Peanut Butter Sandwich” is a good name for? For a peanut butter sandwich.
Look, I’m serious, Name Change, change those names back, or I’ll start buying cookies from the Boy Scouts.

Peanut Butter Patties sounds waayyyyy more fattening than Tagalongs. I will NOT be purchasing them.

I will eat these cookies no matter what they are called. I live for those Samoas.

Actually, the Girl Scouts have 2 different bakers: ABC bakers (Caramel DeLite) and Little Brownie bakers (Samoa). The name difference is simply between the two companies. Every Girl Scout service unit has to pick a baker, and if your local service unit has switched bakers that could account for the name change. Try buying cookies from the girls a few towns over if you feel that strongly about it.

There were some Girl Scouts outside my local walmart a few weeks ago selling cookies. I hadn’t planned on buying any (if I wanted cookies I could have got Oreo inside)….but the um..little scouts mother was HOT…so I bought a boxed and used the opportunity to chat up mommy for a moment or two. I don’t recall the actual ‘name’ of the cookies, only that they were chocolate chip. It was later that night before I opened the box up and tried one….to discover that it was easily one of the worst cookies I had ever tasted ranking just below the burnt oatmeal cookies I made for my class party in 4th grade.

They come from different cookie companies dipsh*t; there is not one giant cookie company that makes all the Girl Scout cookies.
