To the Economy

Dear Economy,

You baffle me.

Sometimes you’re up. Sometimes you’re down. You remind me of my manic-depressive cousin. I know you don’t want to hear this, but it’s the same question I asked him: are you sure you aren’t stimulated enough?

I don’t know. Do you really need to be saved? Can’t you save yourself? You’ve been sounding really desperate lately, but to be honest, I’m not convinced that these aren’t just cries for help.

Look, I get it. You got yourself into a bit of a pickle running with the wrong crowd. Subprime mortgages? Didn’t the name “subprime” clue you in? Do you eat subprime steak? Or watch subprimetime TV? Do you even remember the subprime of your life? Of course not. We raised you better than that.

And these subprime mortgages? They’re from the wrong side of the tracks. You knew that all along, didn’t you? You would have if you’d done your homework.

Okay, look, we’ll bail you out, but just this once, got it? I hate to burst your bubble, but we can’t be there for you always.

i don’t know why everyone’s in such a panic. here’s a few things to remember: 1. although the economy is bad, it’s not extreme to the point where you go back to early human beings. 2. what did you do when wars were going on, WWII, Vietnam, Korea…..i know we’re in a pseudo war as we speak, but what did we do to survive those past wars? 3. life isn’t as drab as you think. a smile goes a long way.
