To Post-Its

Dear Post-Its,

You’re everywhere. You’re over. You’re passé.

Look, we like you. You’re useful. Notepaper with a slightly sticky substance? Brilliant. So much more useful than either notepaper or a sticky substance on its own.

But you’re nowhere near as cute as you seem to think you are. Canary yellow we could handle. It’s good color: official, commanding yet inoffensive. But now, what’s this? Off-whites? Tertiary colors? Pastels??

Don’t start getting all self-important now. Just because you had a prominent role in Romy & Michelle’s High School Reunion, don’t start thinking that you’re anything more than notepaper with a slightly sticky substance. Seriously. That’s all you are, and all you’ll ever be. Know your place.

Besides, not only was that film released years ago, we all know that you bought your way into that film. Yes, we know. Don’t think you’re that good at keeping secrets.

All we’re saying is: know your place. Make a note of it.

Ugh, I hate Post-Its… mostly because they don’t help. I write “cheese” to remind me to buy cheese, but then I see it later and I’m not thinking about shopping and I’m like, “why does that post-it say ‘cheese’?”

  2. Janelle Says:

Oh, but don’t forget the classic “he broke up with me on a post-it note.” Post-its haven’t fully lost their hipness yet…

  3. Bob Says:

Of course… you’ve heard the old adage that once something is called “hip” - it immediately loses all “hipness.” So… more evidence that Post-Its are over.

  4. Griffin Says:

    Way too sticky for me.

You’re all nuts. Post-Its are just beginning, and are the wave of the future! I have access to special information about the company that most people don’t, so I’ll let you all in on their next development, that is sure to revolutionize the way humans keep notes! Don’t let it get out though..By 2010, they’ll have developed BROWN post-its! I can’t wait! But they’ll probably sit on the patent for a few decades :(
